Val and Dan O'Connell served with a Restraining Order

The Glastonbury Landowners Association recently requested a restraining order against Val and Dan O'Connell. Dan O'Connell made death threats at the September 11th, 2017 GLA Board Meeting and Val reinforced those threats with her 2017 candidate bio.
A temporary restraining order was granted and served. It prohibits the O'Connells from physically attending GLA Board or Committee meetings. The next step for the GLA is to get a permanent restraining order against the O'Connells from a higher court.
Both O'Connells may still participate in meetings via the GLA telephone link. Val O'Connell's candidacy is still valid for the same reason.

Restraining Order Update
October 17th, 2017 - The Forum studied a copy of the restraining order issued to Dan and Val O'Connell. The order found that the GLA Board was in imminent danger of harm and the court used that finding as a reason for issuing the temporary restraining order. The order prohibits Dan and Val O'Connell from coming within 300 feet of GLA Board, Committee, Special and Annual meetings. However the O'Connells may still cast an absentee ballot and may LISTEN to meetings. They are prohibited from speaking on the phone when listening to GLA meetings. Additionally Dan and Val may not harass, threaten, disturb the peace or even contact the GLA Board.
It is difficult to envision how Val's candidacy remains effective when she is prohibited from having any contact with the Board she wishes to join. Perhaps this is an issue that will be dealt with at the next GLA Board meeting.
The temporary restraining order expires on November 1st at 5:00 PM. On the same day, November 1st, a court hearing in Livingston will review the restraining order and decide if it should become permanent. The hearing will be at 1:30 PM in the Justice Court at 414 E Callander Street in Livingston.
