Dissolution Lawsuit Moves Forward; GLA Agent Served Charlotte Mizzi, the official Legal Agent for the GLA, was served by the court on July 8th in regards to the Dissolution lawsuit. The GLA is required to respond. A closed session GLA Board meeting will be held at Mizzi's home on Saturday night. Landowners will not be allowed to attend or call in. Neither Mizzi nor President Brozovsky discussed the summons with the GLA Legal Committee. Normally all directors are presented with the facts and the Legal Committee discusses the best way to proceed.
The closed GLA Board meeting came as a surprise for many directors. None were even asked for an alternative date. Several directors protested. They felt that Mizzi's home was hardly a neutral setting. Brockett asked why the Legal Committee was not involved. All comments were ignored.
The GLA has already spent $10,000.00 to hire attorney John Knobel to defend the Association against the Brozovsky/Mizzi lawsuit. We are told that most of that retainer is gone and another $10,000.00 will soon be requested by Knobel.
It is expected that the GLA will spend an equal amount just to get started with a defense against the Dissolution lawsuit.
The GLA is also involved in a lawsuit against Scariano Holdings. That is slowly moving forward.

GLA Board Votes to Hire Another Attorney On July 24th, 2021 the GLA Board held a closed session meeting at Charlotte Mizzi's home despite protests from several directors who wanted a more neutral and open setting. No agenda was made available to directors. All 10 directors were present or on the phone. Sedlak, Ladewig and McAlister were prevented from joining the debate or voting based on their conflict of interest because they are litigants in the lawsuit being discussed. Ed Dobrowski was allowed to participate and vote even though he resigned from the board at the "end of the year" in 2020.
The sole subject of the meeting was gaining permission from the board to hire another attorney. A Motion was presented by Mizzi and seconded by Dubiel to hire an attorney to answer the Dissolution Lawsuit. President Brozovsky and Secretary Mizzi did not present any attorney names, prices or cost estimates. Mizzi stated that she had been "on the phone all day talking to attorneys". None offered to accept the job. When asked who she had spoken with Mizzi stated "I would rather not say". When asked how the board could possibly respond by the deadline of July 29, Mizzi mumbled that she would answer it "Pro Se" if she had to.
Two directors strongly protested approving a motion to hire an attorney without basic information such as cost, hourly rates and names. One feared that the GLA board would be writing a blank check. Mizzi offered to add an amendment to the motion where the board would be notified of the cost when the attorney was hired. The motion passed on a 5 to 2 vote. Brozovsky, Mizzi, Accatino, Dubiel and Dobrowski voted YES. Brockett and Dirkers voted NO.
Currently five directors are suing the GLA Board in two different lawsuits. GLA legal expenses may hit an all time high in 2021 further draining money away from basic road maintenance which has yet to be performed this year.
