Official Candidate List for North and South Glastonbury
At 5 PM on September 23rd, 2019 the deadline for submitting a bio and official forms to run for the GLA Board passed. Seven candidates have tossed their hats into the ring for seven open positions. In theory all should win a seat on the Glastonbury Landowner's Association (GLA) Board as long as they receive at least a fraction of a vote. However, a landowner could still capture a seat by declaring themselves a write-in candidate. Candidates can also be nominated from the floor at the annual meeting. In 2018 write-in candidate Ron Price won a seat on the GLA Board.
Paul Rantello of North Glastonbury submitted paperwork for his candidacy but was disqualified by the current GLA Board. Several buildings on his property violate the Covenants and thus he is not "a member in good standing".
Three long term directors from South Glastonbury chose not to run again. Kevin Newby, the long serving and hard working Chair of the Project Review Committee and GLA Vice President has retired from the Board. Mark Seaver, the current Treasurer has also resigned. His wife, Andrea Sedlak, is currently serving as a GLA Director. Finally President Dennis Riley has left the Board under a cloud of suspicion regarding the illegal excavation of Golemeyer Creek which resulted in the GLA being charged with violations of the federal Clean Water Act.

On October 29th, 2018 the Forum ran a provocative post regarding "enemies of the GLA Board". We discussed how then candidates Kathleen Rakela, Clare Parker and Ed Dobrowski all became unfit for GLA Board duty after they had the audacity to sue the Board. All three lost badly in the Annual Election. Two of the three; Ed Dobrowski and Clare Parker are running again in South Glastonbury. Will a write-in candidate emerge that can better serve the needs of South Glastonbury landowners?
The Candidates for 2019 are:
North Glastonbury
Aija-Mara Accatino
Chris Desborough
Claudette Dirkers
Charlotte Mizzi
South Glastonbury
Ed Dobrowski
Clare Parker
Alicia Roskind
When bios are available we will post them. The Forum will also be distributing candidate questionnaires involving critical Glastonbury issues. We will post the candidate replies.
