High South Glastonbury Snow Report - Nov 4, 2019 4:45 PM Three inches of wet snow fell overnight. Rain showers added to the mess this afternoon. Sagittarius Skyway has packed wet snow resting on previous packed snow that turned to ice. Upper Hercules through the canyon also has packed wet snow on top of ice. Past Spectec on Hercules just snow, slush and mud cover the road.
Coming back from the Post Office in my Jeep Rubicon I started to slide on the first uphill turn after Libra. I had to use four wheel drive as I approached Spectec. After Spectec the going was difficult. The road has not been plowed, lacks reflectors and posts on the road sides and the clouds were descending. Soon near white-out conditions prevailed.
The temperature is 35 degrees and falling. It is expected to drop below freezing tonight and the slush will turn to crusty ice. On Tuesday the temperatures are supposed to climb into the low 50's. Drive with caution especially after dark.
High South roads have not been plowed yet this winter.
