Abandoned Half Built Structure; Eyesores Galore Former GLA Director Responsible A former Glastonbury Landowner's Association director started to construct a building in High South Glastonbury on parcel 84B around 2014. The structure was abandoned two to three years later. However the parcel continued to fill with used construction materials, old tires, bricks, scraps of wood and five trailers. A steel shipping container, visible from the road, was the first item brought on to the property. A neighbor complained and the property owner was contacted. Shortly thereafter the property owner, was encouraged to run for the GLA Board. He won a seat and served for two years. He continued construction intermittently during that period. Around 2017 construction ceased but the collection of eyesores continued. The property violates GLA Board policy, the Covenants and the Master Plan. Abandoned vehicles, piles of trash and shipping containers are prohibited in Glastonbury. The eyesores directly impact the neighbor's view of an otherwise beautiful scene. A lovely rental property just across the road has been slow to sell. Does the junkyard view have a negative impact on potential buyers? The GLA Board has been notified of the multiple violations.
