Eleanor Schieffelin, 96, Passes Away On December 11, 2021 Eleanor Schieffelin passed away peacefully. Eleanor was one of the original landowners in Glastonbury. She was frequently mentioned in contemporary news articles that document Glastonbury's history. Mrs. Schieffelin served on the Glastonbury Landowner's Association board and was often seen in the audience after her term expired. She never missed an Annual Election either. We last saw her at the 2019 Election where she was assisted by a caretaker and hand-delivered her ballot. On a few occasions, the Forum had a chance to speak with Eleanor. Her conversation was always thoughtful and articulate. She came across as a quiet, warm and caring individual.
Mrs. Schieffelin was a strong benefactor of St. Thomas More school. She provided scholarships for several students who would not otherwise be able to attend. Elanor may be remembered by many as a prolific writer who frequently contributed thought-provoking and insightful letters to the Editor of the Livingston Enterprise. She will be missed by many for she was a true "pillar of the community".
