GLFPC - Were They Ahead of Their Time?
In 2014 the Glastonbury Landowners For Positive Change wrote on their website:
"REORGANIZING THE GLASTONBURY LANDOWNERS ASSOCIATION
On July 21, 2014 the GLA held a special meeting in Emigrant Hall to chart a path forward for our government. As you may recall the GLA recently lost its affordable lawsuit liability insurance. As a result, Minnick Management has quit and the entire job of managing 405 parcels, collecting assessments, publishing newsletters, holding meetings, and dealing with the burden of multiple lawsuits has been placed mainly on the shoulders of board members and volunteers. Many are finding the tasks complicated and overwhelming.
When the GLA was formed few people lived in South Glastonbury and a handful more lived in North Glastonbury. Twelve board members, with landowner input, made decisions for the entire community. Even though only six were electable by half of our community, the arrangement was workable. Our community is now larger and more diverse. It is no longer viable to have six directors create rules for landowners who cannot vote for them.
Our group, Glastonbury Landowners for Positive Change, believes there is a more effective way for the GLA to serve our community while strengthening the spiritual bonds that connect us to the land and each other. Our proposal could improve road maintenance, keep assessments affordable, maintain property values and create direct voting for all board members. Our community should be a respite from a tumultuous world and we wish to preserve our tranquility and restore harmony by proposing the following:
The GLA should reorganize into two boards; one for South Glastonbury (SG) and one for North Glastonbury (NG). Each board would have the exact same Bylaws, Covenants, and Master Plan as we currently enjoy. Two boards could serve our community more efficiently and lower operating costs by tailoring protection and services. Covenants could be more appropriately adapted to reduce lawsuits, bring in term limits, and even customize road services.
Our group continues to carefully consider all aspects of reorganizing the GLA. Our members raise thought-provoking questions and we discover realistic solutions. Please see the Q&A link at the top of this page for a list of pertinent questions and answers. The Q&A page will be updated and expanded over time as new information becomes available.

In 2020 Term Limits became part of the GLA Bylaws.
In 2021 the idea of dissolving the Glastonbury Landowner's Association (GLA) took root in the form of a lawsuit. Eventually, a majority of the GLA board agreed to dissolve the GLA and replace it with two organizations; GLA-North and GLA-South. On January 10th, 2022 the 6th District Court will hold a hearing and eventually decide what the GLFPC proposed many years ago will come true or not.
