Communications Committee Meeting 6:30 - 8:00 PM March 2 2016
Administrator's Note: Church Universal and Triumphant culture places great emphasis on "harmony" and the personal goal of becoming an Ascended Master. For those not familiar with Ascended Masters think of them as gods. In Church theology if you work hard enough, sacrifice enough and do what is expected of you at the end of many lifetimes you may just get to sit on the same heavenly bench as Jesus, Confucius, Tatiana and my favorite Zeus. The non-church people are "outsiders" by definition and whatever they say or do carries far less weight than Church faithful that are on the trail of Ascended Masters. In the interest of harmony the non-faithful should be listened to but their needs and concerns may be safely ignored. "Harmony" has traditionally been achieved in Glastonbury via the imposition of onerous rules such as the 1982 -1997 Covenants that required landowners to relinquish Constitutional protections when they asked to live here. Grievances were prohibited and the Church could seize your land anytime they wanted to. Now our community finds itself in the curious position of discussing the subject of "The Board Listens" at a Communications Committee meeting.
On April 2nd the entire membership will be treated to an exquisite display of camaraderie and harmony when ALL of our elected official dutifully gather to solemnly "listen" to the unwashed masses. That act alone will prove that the Board exists on a higher spiritual plain and I trust will move many directors forward towards their personal goal of becoming Ascended Masters.
In non-Church society elected officials are EXPECTED to listen to their constituents. Communication is by phone, email, personal visits, letters to the Editor, community meetings, social media and internet discussion. Politics is the art of solving problems and addressing conflicts. It is intuitively understood by active participants that people get along better when they are working together to solve common problems. Harmony results from hard work, shared goals and artful compromise. In the often closed and authoritarian world of the GLA Board communication is only by means approved of by the Board. Directors are forced to sign confidentiality agreements and threatened if they stray from official doctrine. A few directors, those who are furthest along their path to the Ascended Masters, run the show. I expect them to be at the April 2nd "listening" meeting with their ears open and minds closed.
