Landowner Letter from North Glastonbury Ombudsman - Linda Ulrich
Administrator's Note: Ombudsman Linda Ulrich attended the November 19th, Road Committee meeting and offered assistance in locating a second plow for Glastonbury. Linda graciously wrote a letter to the landowners on December 18th, 2015 which follows:
Fellow Landowners,
As I promised everyone in attendance at the November 19th GLA Road Committee meeting, I asked my son, Peter Ulrich, to go online and search out possible plow trucks with a sander bed for purchase by the GLA.
Peter's immediate response to our purchase price goal of $15,000.00 was that it was too low to obtain a reliable working vehicle to suit our roads, especially in High South or with a heavy winter snowfall. He has had many years experience with larger vehicles, as a CDL tanker and troop bus driver in the Middle East for the US Army, and as one who built his own large 4W vehicle for off roading when he lived in Belgrade, MT.
Peter spent over 5 hours, during his Thanksgiving visit to my home, finding 12 vehicles worthy of further examination. Each cost between $20,000.00 to $25,000.00, were 4W, 2 ton plow trucks with a sanding and dumping capacity, and were in good working condition. This info was sent to Kevin Newby. Peter's comment, spend the money and buy quality to get years of reliable service.
Thanks Peter for using your knowledge and skill to help us out.
