After attending the gla meeting today I was appaled by the views and attitudes of board and community members. The agressive legal proceedings the gla board wishes to take against it's neighbors is frightening. It has has come to my attention that they wish to gain the power to report to ceidit agency's delinquent payments, and the desire to foreclose on property's . Lack of payment is currently the only avenue of dissent we seem to have at the moment. If the gla gains the power to strip land from members for protesting and withholding funds from an organization with whom their best interest is not being severed, they are extorting us. By having the power to coerce our compliance they are undermining the very principles of life liberty and pursuit of happiness this country was founded on. It saddens me to see neighbors some I've known for almost 30years become so money and power hungry they would seize private land and destroy lives. My parents moved here 35 years ago. They built the roads, raised houses and family's , and endured hardships that made this community possible. I have had board and community members audacious enough to tell us if we don't like the totalitarian direction this " governing body" is headed we should sell out and leave! This notion is insane! As Samuel Adams once said : If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen". We will not bow down, we will not sell out, for we have bled and fought to long to make a life here. So it is with great resolve that I vow to unite those who have common sense and love of sovereign and private land ownership to work together to dissolve the tyrant beast the GLA has become.

Eloquently, truthfully and succinctly stated, Samuel Adams 1776! The original Mr. Adams, and other founding fathers, are proud of you and stand beside you, as do I. It is past time for those who agree with you (and me) to band together and show this association that we mean to implement positive change NOW! We have been opposing the tyrants with "political correctness," making but little progress. It is time to take off the kid gloves and seriously get to work with more action and fewer words. One place to take action is to replace current board members who are up for re-election in November with new independent minds in order to eradicate the scourge of Founders' Syndrome, and bring fairness and honest dealings for all landowners by the elected leaders of this association. No taxation without representation! If this cannot be achieved within one more year, then dissolving the association or creating just a roads maintenance association without all the politics seems the next best logical solution.

I hate to disagree with you both, but the protesting now is a little late in the game! The tryrants were those who set up this community in the first place. Read the original document. They, Church Universal and Triumph, could take your land and everything on it if they chose to do so. And they wrote the covenants for this Association.
No one ever owns their land outright. See how long you get to keep your land, by protesting, if you don't pay your taxes! You don't have an inherent "right" to live here, but you do have an obligation to pay your fees for the roads you use since they are private. The same way you pay, through taxes, for county and state roads. Try protesting the car manufacturers by not paying your car loan and see how long you have the "right" to drive your vehicle. Lack of payment is not the only avenue of descent. That only works when the majority does not pay their assessments.
If you want to protest do so by voting for change. You want your voice heard? Well, it won't be if you don't pay your share like the rest of the landowners do. You abdocate that right by taking the easy way out. No one forced your parents or you to sign on the dotted line, but when you did you gave your word to adhere to the terms (covenants) like the rest of us. If you didn't read them that's on you. You don't like them now? Help change them. Join with a lot of concerned landowners that are trying to make positive changes for the whole community, apart from any particular organization or group. If your not part of the solution your part of the problem by not fulfilling your obligation to the community as a whole regardless of the current board.
My opinion,
Sally
