Claudette Dirkers for North Glastonbury Director
Situated in the heart of this renowned valley is our private community of Glastonbury, a landowner’s association run by a board of twelve directors. In this year of 2016, one half of those positions are open to nominations—three in North and three in South. For nearly thirty years, this valley has been my home, and I have seen vast changes, both in this community and in all of the surrounding areas. Now, the time has come for my own, more personal involvement in the business of helping this community to thrive.
A glimpse into some of my varied background spans from being an executive assistant and membership director of a national organization, vice-president of a local school board, managerial positions for both fundraisers and conventions, receptionist, summer Montessori teacher, culinary artist, decorator, seamstress, and artisan bread baker for 800 people on a daily basis, a gardener, lifelong learner and most importantly, a mother.
To this board, I will bring open and transparent communication as a foundation for inclusive growth with fresh, innovative ideas, while bearing in mind the duty to be professional, diligent, humanitarian, efficient, and practical in all matters. Of paramount importance is achieving fiscal health through well-managed, precise accounting practices, while streamlining our finances with the purpose of stabilizing or even reducing assessments. Maintaining and improving our road system with well-researched and long-range planning will be another of my goals, in order to preserve property values and everyone’s safety. These are but a few issues of which I have become aware during my consistent involvement in GLA committee and board meetings throughout the last several years. If elected, you can be assured that, during my tenure, I will never compromise the Truth, fairness, equanimity, professionalism, willingness to serve, and the people in our community. Thank you!
