At Least 10 Landowner Votes will NOT be Counted. Why?
The Forum has learned that at least 10 landowner votes that came in on Saturday November 12th, 2016 and later will NOT be included in the recount on November 26th, 2016. Those 10 votes could further widen Leo Keeler's one vote winning margin and even bring another non-church candidate into contention.
Four of the 10 votes are Proxies from South Glastonbury. All four are for non-church candidates; Leo Keeler, Tim Brockett and Jeff Reiderer. If accepted, they would increase winning candidate Leo Keeler's total to 51. George Makris would remain at 46.
Landowner A, who supposedly was shorted 3 votes by a GLA error on the day of the election, has vowed to cast all 3 of her votes for George Makris. If the proxies were accepted, that would bring the new recount total to Leo Keeler with 51 votes and George Makris with 49 votes. Board Secretary Charlene Murphy has adamantly stated that the proxy votes will NOT be counted.
The Forum has also learned that Treasurer Rudy Parker picked up ballots from the Emigrant Post Office and privately opened them. He stated that he was simply looking for checks and did not peek at the votes. However as treasurer Rudy Parker knows which parcels owe money and which ones do not. On the outside of every ballot envelope is the parcel number. There was no reason to open the secret ballot envelope if that parcel did not owe money. Charlene Murphy stated that those landowner votes will NOT be counted either.
The ONLY votes that will be added to the November 26th "recount" are three from Landowner A who has stated that she will vote for George Makris. Her three votes will increase George's total to 49 while holding Leo Keeler to 47. If that scenario plays out the election will be stolen from Leo Keeler and all landowners who voted for him.
Board Secretary Charlene Murphy has the power to stop this theft which threatens to tear apart our community and the GLA Board. She can certify the results of November 12th and put an end to the dis-harmony and negative forces that are engulfing Glastonbury.
We encourage all Glastonbury landowners to attend the Election Recount meeting at Liberty Hall on November 26th at 10 AM. We also encourage landowners to petition the GLA Board and Charlene Murphy to put an end to the divisions that have descended upon Glastonbury by accepting the official election results of November 12th, 2016.
