Before you cast your vote, please do your homework. Study the candidates qualifications and past participation in attending committee and board meetings, especially the actions and history of incumbents running for director positions. Vote for candidates based on their past performance and contributions to the GLA, not on their affiliations.
Please consider the following letter recently sent by the GLFPC to all landowners:
GLA ELECTIONS & ANNUAL MEETING NOV. 11
CRITICAL - PLEASE VOTE!
Glastonbury Landowners for Positive Change (GLFPC) formed three years ago to effect positive change in the management of YOUR landowner association and to hold the board of directors accountable for both their actions and inactions. Some of our members have regularly attended every committee and board meeting since then with many being active for years prior to our founding. We publish summaries of GLA meetings and make them available to educate the electorate with the facts. Summaries are found online at:
glastonburylandownersforpositivechange.wordpress.com/ and on the forum:
glastonbury.freeforums.net/board/11/gla-board-meetings. If you would like to receive future summaries via email please ask one of the coordinators at the end of this letter to be added to our email list.
We support directors who demonstrate accountability, non-discrimination, critical thinking and problem solving, and who fairly represent ALL landowners, not just their special interest group. Current directors who meet these expectations include Dennis Riley, Regina Wunsch, Leo Keeler, Kevin Newby and Mark Seaver – all from South Glastonbury. Newby, Riley and Seaver are up for re-election in November and we encourage South Glastonbury landowners to vote for them.
Claudette Dirkers of North Glastonbury is running for director against three incumbents: Richard Johnson, Charlotte Mizzi and Paul Rantallo. Perennial candidate Val O’Connell is exercising her right to run yet again. Claudette is already serving on most GLA committees and has volunteered valuable research and critical thinking and planning skills to effect change. We encourage you to read the candidates “bios” in the election packet recently mailed by the GLA, and gain even more insights here online:
glastonbury.freeforums.net/board/59/meet-candidates-2017The GLA board is weighted with members of Church Universal and Triumphant, as has historically been the case. Needless to say, this situation breeds severe conflicts of interest as CUT-member directors repeatedly demonstrate their loyalty to CUT over the best interests of all Glastonbury landowners. They are well organized politically and have recruited their own candidates every year. In some years they even recruit candidates who have no intentions of serving their full term, only to resign early on so that the CUT dominated board can appoint directors of their choosing and bypass the landowner election process! They have maintained their stranglehold with the majority of directors even though their numbers are now a demographic minority.
Do you agree that the non-CUT landowners deserve an equal voice in the management of the GLA? If so, we need your vote to re-elect Newby, Riley and Seaver if your property is in South, and to elect Dirkers if your property is in North. Or do you prefer to see the GLA board dominated by CUT affiliates with their ongoing conflicts of interest, mismanagement of association funds, and inability to represent ALL landowners equitably?
Under the GLA governing documents, every landowner has three votes per each parcel they own. The intention is that the landowner will cast one vote for each of the three open board positions in their neighborhood. If you have property in South Glastonbury, we recommend you cast your three votes per parcel owned for Newby, Riley and Seaver. One parcel would yield one vote for each candidate.
We are recommending that North Glastonbury landowners simply cast just one vote solely for Claudette Dirkers, to assure that she gets enough votes to place her on the board as a representative for ALL landowners. Voting for her competition will simply help assure that one or more ineffective, compromised incumbents stay on.
IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO VOTE IN PERSON, OR BY ABSENTEE BALLOT, YOU MAY ASSIGN YOUR VOTE VIA PROXY TO ONE OF US TO CAST IT FOR YOU. The proxy form and instructions are included in the GLA election packet, or may be downloaded here:
