Richard Johnson (RJ) for North Glastonbury Director
I am retired from the military. I helped build these roads in North and South Glastonbury. As a member of the road & weed committee, I am interested in improving our roads and preserving our investment. As a member of the project review committee, I want to ensure that our Covenants and Master Plan are adhered to.

I have to admit I have been surpised by RJ’s votes, especially on road issues and other committees.
He has shown rational and reasoned thinking on the issues concerning our roads. I must say I expected him to be among the status quote / group vote that has been prevalent. Sometimes I question his voting, but lately as far as I have seen it has been logical when the facts are brought to the forefront.
For an “old geezer” like myself he seems to have an independent streak for which I applaud him. I hope he keeps up the “rational free thinking” and weighs what is best for GLA first and foremost.
Thanks RJ

I am offended at his Confederate flag. Racism still exists in this country. At least we know where he stands.

I think it is unfair and wrong to imply that Richard Johnson is a racist because he flies a Confederate flag. He also flies an American flag; one of few in Glastonbury. He is a veteran and served in the Vietnam war. I have brothers who served at the same time. He may have saved their lives or perhaps my brothers may have saved his life. All came home safe and sound.
I am thankful for his service to our country.
I work with Richard on the Road Committee. He is helpful, attends all meetings and contributes time to community projects. Last summer he assisted in locating and digging out several culverts in North Glastonbury. Recently he has assisted with installing reflectors on T posts that mark recently uncovered culverts. It was his idea to include basalt with the upcoming magnesium chloride road treatment.
I believe that Richard is a kind man, has a good heart and is a patriot.

Being new to the area and hoping to move here, it puts a bad taste in my mouth. I saw at least 4 American flags heading up Capricorn Drive until I came to a Confederate one. There was also one on the pickup truck across the road from this one. We also saw two in South Glastonbury. It means something different to us. Not the kind of neighborhood I want to move to. We are just looking, but it seems like a bad time to move here. I have a friend who lives here. He told me it's not a nice place to live. I think he's right. I have met Richard. He was not kind to us. Barely said a word.

We are moving here from South Carolina. Living in Yellowstone/Gardiner, temporarily. Just checking out the neighborhood, but first impressions are important. My family has been visiting the area for the summer, but have heard a lot of negativity about this community. We sit back and watch, but it's not the kind of place we want to raise our family. Too much drama. We are leaving this week and heading back home. We have friends in North Glastonbury and were looking at a property, but until this GLA sorts itself out, I don't think it's going to work for us. It was nice meeting the people in the area.

RJ,
I have a new found respect for you. In the beginning I really gave you grief as an old geezer who would sit on the Board and sleep 💤. I’ve watched you out there time after time in the wind driven snow, bitterly cold and white out conditions working at putting up snow fencing. There you were working for all of us. At your age you could have easily begged off but you didn’t.
I watched as younger men drove past but you stayed the course. You’ve earned my respect along with the others who worked by your side!! It doesn’t mean I will always agree with your votes but it will mean there will be that underlying respect.
Thanks RJ for your service to the GLA and I won’t say another word when or if you nod off...
Sally
