2017 Road Committee Honors Members Claudette Dirkers and Jeff Riederer Receive Special Distinctions 2017 Road Committee Members - Left to Right Tim Brockett, Jeff Riederer, Ia Williams, Dennis Riley, Claudette Dirkers, Richard Johnson (RJ) and Walter Wunsch.
The 2017 Road Committee honored it's members at their November 2nd, 2017 meeting. A beautiful, gold framed group portrait was given to every active member. Members in the photo are: Tim Brockett, Jeff Riederer, Ia Williams, Dennis Riley, Claudette Dirkers,Richard Johnson (RJ) and Walter Wunsch. Gerald Dubiel, Newman Brozovsky and Linda Ulrich were not available on the day the photo was taken.
The 2017 new Road Committee started to transform itself in early summer and has been on a steady roll since then. A new road policy was written, ditches were dug, culverts were cleaned after 20 years of neglect, a 5 year comprehensive road plan was worked on, roads were graded and graveled, traffic was analyzed and road signs were suggested. Problems were quickly addressed and some were immediately solved. Others were tabled for lack of funds but steps were taken so they could be solved in the future.
The roads are the main reason why the GLA exists. Working on the Road Committee is a tremendous opportunity and responsibility. As such members were honored for their commitment and hard work.
Two members, Claudette Dirkers and Jeff Riederer received special recognition for their dedication and timeless service to all landowners and the 2017 Road Committee. They were given engraved plaques and special thanks for their dedication and hard work.
The 2017 Road Committee will also be sending out special Thank-you cards to the many generous landowners who donated gravel and to contractors who worked diligently to improve our road network in 2017.

Once again, landowner volunteer service sets the standard! It is nice to see that volunteers are duly recognized for their contributions after years of neglect by previous boards! Just like the ditches and culverts that this group finally addressed, and through their influence got the board to invest more available funds into our roads! If you appreciate their efforts, join me in thanking them by commenting below... (GLA board take notice).
