GLA Disenfranchises ALL Landowners for 2017
Why is Charlene Murphy hiding from landowners?
Fiddling while Rome burns...
The 2016 Election was a fiasco. The 2017 Election was utterly destroyed; it will not happen. Our community is once again the laughing stock of Paradise Valley and Park County. Landowners are angry and the GLA Board has lost more credibility. The Board cannot hold a fair, honest and transparent election. They struggle to collect current assessments and find it almost impossible to effectively collect almost a quarter million dollars in past due assessments.
At the center of both failed elections stands Election Committee chair Charlene Murphy who I believe bears full responsibility for both failures. At the October GLA Board meeting it was Charlene Murphy who demanded that the Annual Election be postponed so "landowners would not be disenfranchised". Of course what she meant was all the folks who voted by absentee ballot for Kathleen Rakela should be allowed to vote again since Rakela was disqualified. So began a tortuous path that has ended with all landowners being disenfranchised.
Murphy repeatedly ignores the advice of her competent committee and is dragging the entire board into a legal swamp. Murphy hand picked "volunteers" to work in key positions at the 2017 Annual Election. They were given the responsibility of opening, verifying and counting ballots. Many of these folks also signed a petition asking that the 2017 Annual Election be suspended. When questioned Charlene Murphy stated that all landowners were entitled to "free speech". In my opinion free speech does not give the fox the right to guard the chicken coop.
When the Election Committee voted to ask one volunteer with a past history of bending election rules to not serve as a ballot verifier, Charlene Murphy defiantly opposed the almost unanimous committee vote. At the December Board meeting Murphy boldly requested permission to shred previous years ballots. How much longer will the GLA Board allow her to damage the very organization she is supposed to serve?
The proposed Election Postponement post card will once again remind landowners of how Charlene Murphy has failed the community and disenfranchised ALL landowners in 2017. It is time for her to resign or be fired. Election Committee co-chair Kevin Newby should take the reins and be the GLA Election Committee point man to represent the Committee at the January 2nd court hearing.
Landowners and the GLA Board deserve better than Charlene Murphy and her record of election fiascos and failures.
