As an interested party, you are free to attend the court hearing on whether GLA’s election process and removal of Kathleen Rakela from the election ballot was proper. The four-hour hearing is scheduled for Friday March 23, 2018 at 10 am at the Courthouse in Livingston and will include a lunch break.
After the GLA board disqualified Rakela as a board candidate in the now-delayed November 2017 annual election, Rakela went to court. Just days before the election Rakela filed for a Temporary Restraining Order which stopped the election. She subsequently sued the board claiming she had suffered irreparable harm when she was disqualified as a board candidate.

Rakela Wins by Going to Court; Landowners Lose The court ruled against extending the restraining order for the GLA Annual Election. However Kathleen Rakela who requested the restraining order won a solid victory. The judge ruled that the GLA is free to hold another election and plans are underway for a new one in June 2018. The 2017 election is thus voided and all votes will be tossed. A new election will allow Kathleen Rakela to get on the ballot; a position she lost when it was discovered she was not "in good standing" by the GLA Board last October. Now that she has that coveted ballot position she can campaign along with the other, and yet to be announced, candidates.
Glastonbury landowners have spent over $13,000.00 in assessment funds or almost 10% of the 2018 budget on legal costs. More legal invoices are on the way and may push the total to over $20,000.00 in the next few months. The case is far from over. Rakela is free to continue with her claim of "irreparable harm" and seek damages from the court. That part of the case could go on into 2019.
For now landowners can expect a new election to take place tentatively in mid-June 2018.
