Road Committee Meeting - Voice your Concerns - June 1st
There will be a Road Committee meeting on Friday June 1st between 7 and 9 PM at SpecTec in South Glastonbury.
Recently the Road Committee at the urging of Road Chair Dennis Riley and Director Regina Wunsch voted to cancel both the remainder of the 2017 Fall Grading contract and the entire 2018 Spring Grading contract. Nine GLA board members voted for cancelling the contracts. Over $50,000.00 worth of road services promised to landowners and approved and funded by the GLA Board were cancelled. No reason was given.
North Glastonbury was especially hard hit. Low South lost $15,000.00 of road improvements and that money will be used to fix flood damage in High South.
What do you think of the motion to cancel existing contracts and deny much needed road services to landowners? Some directors want to "fix" the newest contract by adding services cancelled back in. Road Committee member Tim Brockett wants to see both the 2017 Fall Grading and 2018 Spring grading contract reinstated. He believes that promises made to landowners should not be broken. Brockett will present a motion that restores both contracts and works to restore trust between landowners and the Road Committee.
What do you think? Post your comments below and bring them to the Road Committee meeting on Friday.

Administrator:
My concern is that the statement above is only “one” side of the story being presented here. I find Dennis and Regina (who are mentioned above) to be reasoned, critical and analytical thinkers. It is hard for me to believe that there was “NO REASON GIVEN!“ Maybe the Admin/Brockett was not privy to the vote or meeting and missed the reasoning perhaps?
My question is WHERE IS THIS DISTRUST THAT NEEDS TO BE RESTORED COMING FROM?? IS THIS BEING FOSTERED TO SERVE AN AGENDA?
Adapting to new information and/or emergency situations happens all the time and I wonder if this isn’t what is happening here? You want a board who can adapt to situations for the benefit of its constituents.
What happened to the adage “none of us is as smart as all of us?”
