Glastonbury Property Sales are Brisk in June 2019 Is the spiritual dome about to shatter? 2019 is shaping up to be the best year yet for Glastonbury property sales. Currently 15 properties are listed on Zillow and Realtor.com with more being added every week. Early summer is the best time to sell as the weather is warm and sunny. Several properties sold in May which is earlier than normal.
New houses are sprouting like mushrooms after a summer rain. In South Glastonbury the noted firm of R&B Builders has several high end custom homes under construction or near completion. There are few open parcels left and those remaining are commanding extraordinary prices. In Low South one 30+ acre parcel with a bomb shelter is listed for almost 1 million dollars.
Many of the parcels were originally purchased by Church Universal and Triumphant (CUT) followers. Newcomers are purchasing most of the parcels and many have only a dim idea of Glastonbury's history. They have their own beliefs and often are just looking for a second home with spacious views. The spiritual dome that encompassed both North and South Glastonbury started to crack in 1998 when CUT authorized non-believers to purchase land. In 2019 it appears to be shattering as a new round of folks move into Glastonbury for non-religious reasons. In just a few years the spiritual community Glastonbury was meant to be, may only exist in the collected memories of a few aged CUT believers.

Does anyone know who is Scorpwo@gmail.com? This person using this email is asking GLA landowners to sell them their property if they have "financial hardships." Yet this person remains anonymous and claims they do not want to live on the property and it would be just "an investment." Note that these secondary homeowners in the GLA Community are driving up property values so high that will lead to much higher higher property taxes for all landowners. That is what is happening now with some GLA properties being sold to out-of-state investors buy up GLA property at much higher costs than expected. If this trend continues, those on fixed-income and low income may be forced to sell their own properties due to unaffordable property taxes. Landowners beware!
