Another Parcel in North Glastonbury Sold! Will the pending owners sub-divide? A desert like 20 acre parcel at the corner of Capricorn and Jupiter was listed on Realtor.com for just 39 days. A sale is now pending. The parcel could be subdivided into five four acre lots. Or it could be used for one expensive second home as is common in South Glastonbury. Whichever way the new owners decide to go one trend is clear. Glastonbury is rapidly changing from a semi-closed Church Universal and Triumphant(CUT) community to one where newcomers will soon be in the overwhelming majority.
The current landowner's association, the GLA, was created by CUT and has been dominated by CUT followers for two decades. Traditionally the GLA has ignored the Covenants and focused landowner resources on serving CUT needs and wishes.
The paved roads in North Glastonbury are rapidly deteriorating because they lack a proper base and were not built to county standards. Snow removal in High South Glastonbury is always expensive and 2018/2019 storms have caused tens of thousands of dollars in plowing expenses. The GLA recently sold their sole remaining plow for $1,500.00 in a sweetheart deal with Chad Standish. Now they depend entirely upon Standish Excavation to plow all north and south roads. The GLA also lacks a long term plan for dealing with the paved road deterioration in North Glastonbury. Lastly the GLA Board lacks a plan to serve the flood of newcomers buying land and building homes in Glastonbury. If the GLA does not change quickly it may find itself out of business in a few short years.
