Major Winter Storm Taking Shape Three tenths of an inch of rain has fallen in High South at 6,300 feet since Friday evening. As of 6 PM on Saturday the rain is changing to snow. It is starting to stick to the grass and ground. The snow is heavy and wet. The temperature is currently 32 degrees and falling. The National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting a major Montana storm through Monday.

Deep Snow and High Winds in Northern Montana Just two inches of wet snow has fallen in High South Glastonbury as of 10:00 AM on Sunday morning. But northern Montana is seeing much fiercer weather.
Fox News reports:
"HELENA, Mont. (AP) -- Strong winds and heavy snow caused power outages and temporary road closures in northwestern Montana as a wintry storm threatened to drop several feet of snow in some areas of the northern Rocky Mountains.
The National Weather Service in Great Falls reported 16 inches of snow had fallen near Marias Pass just south of Glacier National Park by early Saturday afternoon. The area is forecast to see a total of up to 4 feet by the time the storm winds down Sunday night, said meteorologist Megan Syner.
Gusty winds on Saturday knocked down trees and damaged power lines, causing scattered outages in northwestern Montana and along the Rocky Mountain Front. Up to 30 large trees were down on the east side of Flathead Lake, the Missoulian reported".

Gov. Bullock declares Montana winter storm emergency KZBK Reports:
"Governor Steve Bullock declared an emergency in Montana on Sunday, citing the state's "severe early season storm." The Governor's Office said in a press release the hardest-hit areas are Cascade, Flathead, Glacier, Lake, Lewis and Clark, Lincoln, Pondera, and Teton counties and the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. The Blackfeet Indian Reservation, Glacier County, and Pondera County have issued local emergency declarations". Read the full story here.

Record-Smashing, Historic September Snowstorm Brings Up to 4 Feet of Snow, Blizzard Conditions to Northern Rockies The Weather Channel reports: "A historic September snowstorm blasted parts of the northern Rockies with heavy, wet snow and high winds, leading to power outages and tree damage, and was accompanied by record-cold temperatures for the end of September and early October".
