Talk about the Board meeting on Dec. 7th is still going wild. The Board was not able to approve the Financial Report, and that has alarmed many members. The buzz appears to be a major increase in the ongoing discussions about Rudy's incompetence as Treasurer.
Fact - in the 5-6 months Rudy has been Treasurer, no Treasurer report has been made without being reviewed and significantly corrected by Regina. Now Regina has said she is not willing to continue as an advisor for the GLA financial management because of lack of trust, as well as Rudy's cavalier attitude and apparent disregard for the law, and everything becomes a very scary picture for the future.
Though the problem is in the Treasurer position, all Board members are responsible for providing the best service to the Members. The member's lack of trust in money management does not end with Rudy, but has everyone wondering what the Board is going to do about it, and why this issue has been dragging on this long without decisive action.
The new Bookkeeper is likely scared to death about the accuracy of information she will be given to work with. "Garbage in, garbage out" was cited at the meeting, and everyone is saying the "close enough" attitude Rudy displays is not serving members well and will not survive any legal challenge.
Though Leo enjoys doing legal research, I do not believe he is investigating or planning to investigate potential legal problems or threats to GLA. But I do believe some members are concerned enough to be looking into it. I personally wonder if Rudy's history of making mistakes and taking a long time to correct them would be seen as a failure to keep appropriate accounting records under State or Federal law.
With the time constraints Rudy has frequently mentioned, his work schedule in Bozeman, his obvious lack of experience and knowledge of corporate financial management, and his cavalier attitude about ongoing errors and omissions, the current Board Members must ask yourselves - is Rudy really capable of being Treasurer? What other options are available? Why haven't you asked Regina to accept an appointment to the Board, be formally recognized and responsible for a duty she is already performing, and start the New Year with a competent Treasurer?
Thank you for considering my observations and suggestions.
