Governor provides "phased re-opening" plan for Montana KBZK reports:
"Governor Steve Bullock announced during a news conference on Wednesday a "phased re-opening" plan for Montana.
Among the highlights of the plan is that many retail businesses can become operational beginning on Monday, April 27, and restaurants, bars, casinos, and breweries can become operational beginning on Monday, May 4, in accordance with the guidelines listed below. Scroll down for links to the complete plan and key points.
Bullock noted that as a result of the actions taken, Montana has among the lowest number of COVID-19 cases in the nation. Montana also has the lowest number of hospitalizations, per capita, in the nation.
He said: "I recognize that for over the past five weeks Montanans all across the state have gone to incredible lengths to protect our families, friends and the greater Montana community. We have made these sacrifices for health care workers. We have done so for all the other frontline workers in this crisis. We have done so for those most vulnerable to severe illness from this disease... Because just as important as it was for us to act as a community beginning five weeks ago, that still holds true to this day – and moving forward. Once we begin to reopen, we want to be able to stay open. Our personal responsibility to protect those around us – particularly those most vulnerable – remains just as important as any time during this pandemic."

Yellowstone looks at the challenges of re-opening the park KBZK reports:
"Yellowstone National Park is 2.2 million acres of mostly wilderness. It seems like it would be easy to re-open for a public itching for a wide open place to roam.
The park closed a month ago, but so far officials are not ready to say when it might reopen. The problem is not so much space, but geography. In a conference call with tourism business operators from nearby communities, Park Superintendent Cam Sholly said, “You end up having a large population of people that come to the park, and they don’t just spread out.”
Sholly points to the most popular parts of the park like Old Faithful, Mammoth Hot Springs and the Lamar Valley as places where large groups tend to congregate instead of spreading out across the park.
“You know, that last weekend before we closed there were a massive number of people here at the Mammoth Terraces,” said Sholly."

Drop in crude oil prices already hitting Montana oil producers KBZK reports:
"Petroleum industry leaders say the dramatic drop in crude oil prices over the last few weeks is already having an impact on producers in Montana.
“This is definitely the worst downturn that I’ve ever seen in our industry; I’ve worked in the industry for well over 40 years,” said Alan Olson, executive director of the Montana Petroleum Association.
On Monday, national media attention focused on the industry as the price for crude oil futures fell into negative numbers. That was the result of some unusual technical factors, but it pointed to a very real situation – high worldwide oil production combined with a drastic drop in demand for fuel, as people stay home during the coronavirus pandemic."

Coronavirus fear and anxiety can be as contagious as the illness, NYC psychiatrist says Fox News reports:
"No one has felt the stress from the coronavirus pandemic more than the nation’s health care workers and first responders who are trying to save lives.
With more than half a million cases and 42,000 deaths, the coronavirus will continue taking its toll on those serving on the front line and mental health experts worry about the long-term impact.
“Fear and anxiety are as contagious as the virus,” New York-based psychiatrist and Yale faculty member Dr. Anna Yusim told Fox News. “With every patient, you have to get them through this trauma and then we have to find a silver lining."
