Wildfire near Dillon brings smoke to Paradise and Gallatin Valley The Bozeman Chronicle reports:
"A rapidly spreading timber and brush fire in the Lemhi Valley contributed to smoky air conditions in the Gallatin Valley on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Bear Creek fire at Lemhi Pass grew from around 100 acres Tuesday morning to 1,500 acres Wednesday morning, according to officials from the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest."

Bear Creek wildfire quickly spreads from high winds, grows to 5,000 acres KBZK reports:
"The Bear Creek wildfire burning southwest of Dillon started as a cub on Tuesday and quickly grew into a beast.
“The wind is kicking up this morning and this afternoon we’re anticipating another tough day out there,” said Forest Service Duty Officer Don Hammack.
In just 24 hours, the fire quickly spread to more than 1,500 acres. As of Wednesday evening, it had grown to about 5,000 acres, according to a Beaverhead Deerlodge National Forest update.
It’s located in a very remote part of the Beaverhead National Forest about 20 miles west of Clark Canyon reservoir.
It’s a challenging fire to fight."

At least seven new fires bring heavy smoke to Paradise Valley. Here is a link gis.dnrc.mt.gov/apps/firemap/All seven fires started in the last two days. Two of these new fires are less than 20 miles away form Emigrant. The Hawley Fire is 10-15 miles East of Emigrant Peak and the Ross Fire is between Livingston and Bozeman in the Gallatin National Forest. The Dillion Fire, YNPark Fires, and the Cache Creek Fire South East of Big Sky also contribute to smoke in and around Emigrant, Montana.
