Park County sees an uptick in virus cases; officials worry The Livingston Enterprise reports:
"Park County has seen an uptick in COVID-19 cases in recent weeks, and as more cases appear, it becomes more likely that the county will be unable to control the virus, Park County Health Officer Dr. Laurel Desnick said in a Friday video update.
Park County has reported 11 active COVID-19 cases, including a man in his 60s and a woman in her 30s reported Sunday. The county has now reported 88 total COVID-19 cases, with 77 having recovered.
Desnick said Friday the county reported 11 new cases in the preceding week.
“This trend is similar to what we saw last week and actually has us quote worried,” Desnick said.
Cases statewide continue to rise, Desnick said. Montana reported 221 new confirmed COVID-19 cases Thursday, 223 new cases Friday and 293 cases Saturday, all daily records for the state during the pandemic.
“Some of our positive cases come from people traveling out of state or out of the county, then returning home and bringing the virus with them,” Desnick said. “If we are lucky enough to catch the case early and people are being cautious, the spread stops quickly.”
Desnick said there has been spread within household members and at social gatherings like a backyard party, church service or a political event with no masks or social distancing."
