Donna Lash-Andersen
I have paid close attention to GLA affairs for over ten years and now is the time for me to stop watching the problems and be part of the solution. Thus, I am asking for your vote in the 2020 board election on November 14.
A wise friend reminds me from time to time, that one either has to change or die. Applied to GLA, GLA needs to change and move to a consistent even-handed use of the Governing Documents and board policies instead of working around the rules for friends. Every member is entitled to a fair shake. The only way to be fair is by following the Governing Documents and established board policies. I guarantee that if you elect me to the board you will have a director committed to ending all double standards, all dual loyalties and all conflicts of interest.
Change is also needed in some of our policies and procedures.
I believe that members have the right to know how every penny of their assessment money is spent. GLA bank statements and checkbook registers should be accessible to all members.
I believe we can and must spend our road funds more efficiently because now is NOT the time for higher assessments. Road budget overruns need to be the exception, not routine. We need to return to the time when road work contracts were approved by the board, not handled in committee.
All GLA meeting minutes should be posted on the GLA website in a timely manner. Same is true for Project Review.
I also believe we need to change the Bylaws so that only members can run for the board.
The greatest thing I can bring to the board is my passion for fairness. I am a good listener, I have strong people skills, and I like solving problems. My experience as a business owner, a real estate broker, and an award-winning journalist will help me serve you well as a GLA Director. I am asking for your vote. Thank you!
