For North Glastonbury Director - Claudette Dirkers
Claudette Dirkers
As an incumbent GLA director and the only North Glastonbury candidate seeking reelection to our Board, my focus is on serving landowners.
My goal is to protect and preserve your investment by all means possible. As a longtime road committee member, I was the driving force behind the following improvements:
• The application of magnesium chloride onto our gravel roads, eliminating decades of dangerous washboarding, while maintaining the integrity of the roadbed.
• The installation of roadside ditches to preserve the foundations of both the paved and gravel roads.
• I helped to eliminate the road-blocking snowdrift on the crest of Sirius Hill for the first time in the history of North Glastonbury.
• I identified over 50 culverts that were buried for 20 years. They are now clean and functional.
I am committed to further improving our roads while keeping assessments low.
My second passion is legal affairs. On the Legal Committee, I helped to negotiate an out-of-court, non-monetary settlement, and saved landowners thousands of dollars.
As a director, I carefully monitor how your money is spent. I assist our treasurer by collecting, accounting for, and depositing assessments.
I steadfastly follow our governing documents and readily listen to landowners. Recently, I voted for retaining landowner-approved term limits while other directors attempted to suspend them for four years.
My second-term goals are:
• Create a new GLA Road Policy and 5-year Road Plan, and find a way to finally bring regular service to private subdivision roads within the legal jurisdiction of the GLA. The outdated road policy that is currently in use dates back to 2008.
• Settle 20-year old road issues between GLA/C.U.T. for the benefit of all landowners.
• Reactivate past-due collections so we can keep assessments low.
• Create a GLA website team with our webmaster so landowners have better access to financial reports, all meeting minutes and other timely information. Administrative transparency is a must.
