Why Did 2/3 of the GLA Election Committee Resign?
In Their Own Words..."Corrupt Election"
In Their Own Words..."Corrupt Election"
The Forum received the following email from Glastonbury Landowner's Association (GLA) Directors Andrea Sedlak and Jerry Ladewig. Both were members of the GLA Election Committee; Ladewig was the chair. Both have resigned from the Election Committee but are still GLA Board members. The email was sent to Glastonbury landowners from Sedlak's GLA email account.

Subject: GLA Directors Andrea Sedlak and Jerry Ladewig resigned from the Election Committee
Dear Landowners:
We sent the following message to our volunteer helpers last night. Interested landowners have asked about this so we are sharing our message to clarify.
Dear Election Volunteer:
Andrea Sedlak and Jerry Ladewig have resigned from the GLA Election Committee. Recently, a group calling itself the "Glastonbury Landowners Committee" sent out a disinformation letter. The anonymous authors crossed-out the legitimate candidates' names and suggested non-landowner names. The Board voted to reject the nominations of the suggested write-in individuals because they did not follow the required nomination process.
The anonymous authors used the Glastonbury Landowners Committee title without disavowing that they were affiliated in any official way with the GLA. A number of landowners have contacted ballot candidates whose names were crossed-out, asking why they withdrew from the election. The GLC letters have caused a great deal of confusion.
It has been more than two weeks since the letters came to the Board's attention. Throughout that time, the Board has not disavowed the disinformation letter, would not vote for a meeting to discuss the matter, would not vote to approve a clarification letter. Half of the Board has expressed no concern over the disinformation nor the confusion the letter created for Landowners. The anonymous authors have compromised the authentic ballot candidates and compromised the November GLA election.
Because we protest the election going forward under these conditions, we have resigned from the Election Committee and are not going to work any further on this election. We will not be conducting any trainings this coming week.
Thank you for your willingness to help, but we believe that it is in the best interests of the GLA to refuse support for a corrupt election. We trust you understand our commitment to landowners' franchise rights, which require that they receive correct information that does not mislead or confuse them.
Respectfully,
Andrea Sedlak and Jerry Ladewig
Yours truly,
Andrea & Jerry
