Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority officially formed Park County, along with 11 other Montana counties, has officially established the Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority.
The goal of the authority is to preserve and improve abandoned rail service for agriculture, industrial and passenger traffic, according to a Missoula County press release.
The authority is the brainchild of Missoula County Commissioner Dave Strohmaier, who began working with partner counties on the project in the spring, according to the release.
The Park County Commissioners voted unanimously Aug. 11 to join the authority, and one of the commissioners will serve on the authority’s board.
