Covid Vaccine Distribution in Park County
Park County received its first doses of Covid-19 vaccines last week. Livingston HealthCare received 400 doses of the Moderna vaccine and Community Health Partners received 200 doses to vaccinate their clinical personal in Gallatin and Park Counties. Park City County Health Department is expected to receive 200 Moderna vaccinations later this week. These vaccinations will be used throughout the county to vaccinate people with the highest risk of exposure or severe consequences from Covid-19.
“We are grateful that Park County residents have the opportunity to be vaccinated so quickly after vaccine approval. This is another tool to help us get back to work and to the actives so many of us have missed” said Dr. Laurel Desnick, Park City County Health Officer.
The Park City County Health Department will follow the state plan for vaccinating our community. The plan divides recipients into two phases. Phase 1 (A, B, and C) and Phase 2. Phase 1A, which has already begun to be vaccinated, includes frontline healthcare workers, long-term care and assisted living facilities staff and residents, and additional healthcare workers with direct patient contact. This includes dentists, home health providers, physical therapists, etc. The Moderna vaccine requires two doses per person to be effective. The first dose will be given to group 1A in Park County by January 6. The second dose will be given to group 1A four weeks later.
Group 1B includes people age 75 and older, individuals residing in correctional facilities, American Indians and other people of color who may be at elevated risk for Covid-19 complications, and frontline essential workers. Frontline essential workers include: first responders, education and childcare workers, grocery store workers, critical infrastructure federal employees, corrections workers, critical infrastructure IT and energy workers. Those in group 1B are anticipated to be vaccinated between January 15 and March 15, 2021.
Group 1C includes people age 65 and older, persons aged 16-65 with high-risk medical conditions, and essential workers. Essential workers include persons that work in transportation and logistics, food service, shelter/housing construction, finance, IT & communication, energy, legal, media, public safety, water/wastewater, and essential government personnel. Those in Group 1C are anticipated to be vaccinated between March 15 and July 15, 2021.
Phase 2 includes all remaining Montanans depending on vaccine recommendations. Those vaccine recipients are anticipated to be vaccinated beginning July, 2021 and continue.
With guidance from Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services the Park City County Health Department will continue to collaborate with Livingston HealthCare and Community Health Partners to ensure vaccine availability to each group.
“Depending on vaccine availability and federal and state recommendations these plans may change. Our goal is to vaccinate everyone in Park County that wants a vaccine as quickly and as safely as possible” said Dr. Laurel Desnick, Park City County Health Officer.
