Future of the Glastonbury Landowner's Association in Doubt
On February 20, 2021 Director Brockett released an edited email he previously sent to the GLA Board stating:
In the past two weeks I have seen the GLA disregard many rules and laws. It is now almost routine that five members of the BOD will do whatever they want regardless of protocol, rules and Governing Documents. In short anarchy has taken the place of proper governance.
1) A contract was approved by the GLA and then was mysteriously altered. Since the approved contract went to Newman Brozovsky and the changes were made before he signed it, he should take responsibility. When I brought this matter before the Board it was not addressed.
Why vote on a contract if it can be changed after the vote?
2) The GLA voted to remove John Carp from the Road Committee, Yet he remains, and no one is doing anything about it. Carp has no legal authority to spend landowner's money, yet he is being treated as if the vote never took place.
Why should we vote on anything if the results will not be enforced?
3) The 2nd Monday of February has come and gone with no monthly BOD meeting. Why? Where is Newman Brozovsky and Director Mizzi on this? Why has no one complained?
4) I presented a motion to resume our 2020 Annual Election. Only one person, Jerry Ladewig (Yes), voted in the required 3 day time period. The motion expired and thus failed. Andrea Sedlak (Yes), Claudette Dirkers (Yes), John McAlister (Yes), Ed Dobrowski (No) and Charlotte Mizzi (No) all voted after the 3 day limit expired. Their votes could not be counted. Director Mizzi called the 2020 Annual Election "illegal" without offering any evidence.
I fully understand the disgust and outrage felt by many who were wrongly accused by five directors who in turn want them removed from the GLA Board. The five scheduled for "beheading" are the best, brightest and hardest working members of the crew. The other five are seat warmers who do almost nothing.
The recent snow plowing was done without a contract, with very little supervision, by a company that cannot even keep their trucks maintained. Private parking lots and driveways were plowed before some GLA platted roads. Private CUT roads were also plowed. The bill will be a whopper and I suspect it will be enough for the company to purchase a new truck.
Meanwhile we, the GLA, got out of the snow plow business thanks to John Carp, Walter Wunsch, Dennis Riley and the 2018 Road Committee.
The GLA Board is dysfunctional in the extreme and landowners are paying the price with poor service, cost overruns, dubious charges, work done with no contract and little supervision. Landowners were also cheated out of a legal, fair and honest 2020 Annual Election.
We cannot go on like this.
Sincerely,
Director Tim Brockett
