Spring Has Arrived...Daffodils are Blooming Daffodils grow well in Glastonbury. The first ones to bloom in High South are King Alfred as pictured below. Other varieties bloom later. Voles eat most bulbs but Daffodils they leave alone. They devour Tulips and can decimate a full bed in just a few years.
King Alfred Daffodils grow to about 14 inches tall. They make a wonderful vase flower. They grow from bulbs planted in the fall. In 10 years one bulb often expands to 15 or 20 bulbs. Then it is time to dig them up, separate the bulbs and replant them in elsewhere. Daffodils are deer resistant too.
