Motion To Repair Snow Fence, Board Monthly Meeting Update
On May 17 former GLA President Dennis Riley emailed the GLA Board and requested permission to repair the broken down snow fence along Dry Creek Road. He offered to do the work at no charge to the GLA.
The snow fences are in bad shape with many broken sections. Wind, deer and elk are responsible for most of the damage. Elk and deer lack depth vision. Thus they are clumsy when jumping over fences and often catch the fence with their rear legs. Wires snap, pickets break and a section then falls.
On May 23 at 5:27 PM GLA Secretary Mizzi made a motion to allow Dennis Riley to repair the fences. Former South Glastonbury Road Chair Ed Dobrowski seconded the motion and voted yes. Ed Dobrowski resigned from the GLA Board last August. His resignation was effective, in his own words, at "the end of the year". He has also attempted to rescind his resignation. The Board has twice voted down motions to seek legal advice regarding the legality of his attempt to rescind his resignation. Dobrowski voted twice on the motion; once on May 24th and again on May 25th.
On May 25, two days after making the motion, Secretary Mizzi declared victory. One board member, John McAlister still had not voted and the motion would not expire for another day. Director Mizzi, Accatino, Dubiel, Brozovsky, Ladewig and Sedlak voted yes. Director Brockett voted no. Dirkers abstained. McAlister was not given enough time to cast his vote. Resigned Director Ed Dobrowski seconded the motion and voted yes.
Six yes votes were recorded. Seven if Dobrowski is counted. Seven are needed for an email vote of 10 board members to pass.
Thus, Mizzi reasoned, the motion passed.

In other GLA Board news many folks are waiting for a public GLA Board meeting. The Board recently passed a motion requiring a public Board meeting by June 1. To date Secretary Mizzi has not confirmed a meeting place or time. It is not clear when she will do so either. When a date and time are announced, we will post it here.
