Glastonbury Finally Starts to Grade Roads After almost a year, Glastonbury roads are finally get some much needed maintenance. Standish Excavation started in North Glastonbury on September 8, 2021. The chair of the GLA Road Committee, John Carp, was fired last winter for poor job performance. Then the GLA Board refused to appoint anyone to fill the position.
Recently Director Claudette Dirkers and Gerald Dubiel inspected all North Glastonbury roads and submitted a report to the GLA board. The report was approved and then sent to Standish Excavation for a quote. The quote was then approved by the board and Dirkers wrote a contract. Standish signed it and the road work began today.
In South Glastonbury Director Tim Brockett and 2017 Road Committee member, Jeff Riederer, inspected the roads and submitted his report to the GLA board. The board approved it and sent it on to Standish for a quote. Currently the board is waiting on quotes from Standish Excavation for guardrail replacement and repair as well as road maintenance for South Glastonbury. Once the quotes are submitted, the GLA board must approve them and a then a contract can be signed. Brockett stressed that work must be finished in High South before the end of September because early snow can shut down road maintenance. ![](http://www.timslife.com/Forum/2021/2021-09-08a.jpg) Gemini Road in North Glastonbury Being GradedPhoto Courtesy of Joe Bezotsky
