Motion Passed To Share South Glastonbury Road Invoice with Landowners
Note: This article contains numerous quotes from GLA Directors. Many contain spelling and grammatical errors. We have included the quotes exactly as they were written. For privacy one landowner's name was omitted.
On Friday, November 19 at 7:37 AM Glastonbury Landowner's Association (GLA) director Jerry Ladewig made a motion that stated, "we share the Standish invoice dated Nov. 16, 2021 with Landowners". Ladewig wrote:
Director Tim Brockett seconded the motion and voted yes.
Director Andrea Sedlak voted next and said:
Neither Ladewig nor Sedlak specified what information they believed was incorrect on the Forum. Both have been asked what needs correcting. If they respond we will post their comments and correct the article.
GLA Treasurer John McAlister voted next and stated:The Standish invoice total was $59,754.15. His initial bid was $66,220.00.
The donations promised were $10,750.00. The $49,004.15 amount Treasurer McAlister quoted is the total invoice amount minus gravel donations of $10,750.00.
Claudette Dirkers voted next and stated:

Since this is an email vote and there are currently nine directors, six yes votes will be needed to pass the motion. If the motion was presented at a regular board meeting then a simple majority of five could pass the motion.
Director Sedlak added at 6:29 on Friday evening:
Sedlak then added, "Clearly, we need to a meeting to pass this."
Seven minutes later Charlotte Mizzi commented:
Walter Wunsch solicited donations from landowners for gravel. He charged them $500.00 for a 20 yard, double truckload. $8,000.00 of the promised $10,750.00 has been received by the GLA as of November 18. This was covered in detail in previous board emails.
Claudette Dirkers spoke next. She reminded Mizzi that "If you read your emails you would NOT be asking these questions."
The last comment was from Ladewig at 7:10 AM on Saturday. Ladewig said:
It is all there. It doesn't matter who gave the gravel money. If we want to send them a thank you card Claudette can tell us. You don't live here Charlotte.
so our roads don't matter to you. nor do you care about the landowners, only your cadre of blind followers.
You have a responsibility to the association so get on with it and vote!
You are throwing up non-sensical words with no merit,
Once the vote is passed we will send the invoice and Claudette's description.
The motion is NOT flawed. You just don't want to vote for it as you are so obstinate.
The whole purpose is transparency, about which you know nothing as you are part of a secret society.
Have you heard of the "reasonable man" doctrine? This goes way back in law and adjudication.
To wit: "This hypothetical person referred to as the reasonable/prudent man exercises average care, skill, and judgment in conduct that society requires of its members for the protection of their own and of others' interests. "
You are not reasonable.
Do your job, please, and vote yes. It is such a simple thing.

At 2:52 PM on Saturday Director Accatino voted yes.
That makes six yes votes and thus the motion passes.
The motion will expire in three days at 7:37 AM on Monday, November 22.
In rereading {a landowner's} email, based on false reporting by the "forum",
which is dated information, I ask that we share the road invoice with landowners. They/we are the ones paying for road work.
Transparency should apply and would quell misinformation and rumor.

I vote yes and ask that Tim immediately post a correction on his forum.

GLA Treasurer John McAlister voted next and stated:
I vote yes and ask that the full context of Claudette’s statement be included with the invoice so that everyone knows that, with the donations as committed, the total road maintenance cost for South Glastonbury is $49,004.15

Likewise, I vote yes.
Should this motion pass, it would be a lovely gesture to include a note of thanks to donors and participants who contributed to the success of this endeavor, especially be so close to the celebration of Thanksgiving.

Director Sedlak added at 6:29 on Friday evening:
Same old 5 directors who care about landowners. What a sorry excuse for a landowners association. The pity of it is that the others do not even have the decency to be embarrassed by their neglect.
Seven minutes later Charlotte Mizzi commented:
The motion is incomplete and is not transparent. Landowners need to know the scope of the work and cost and how the cost was reduced with having donations. I like to know who solicited those donations. Don't get me wrong, I am grateful for $10,000 plus donations. Just because you don't see me participate in the debate doesn't mean I am dis-interested.
