US Highway 89 widening project snarls traffic through work area until August The Livingston Enterprise reports: "Motorists traveling between Paradise Valley and Livingston are feeling the effects of road work on U.S. Highway 89.
Work at the East River Road junction has reduced traffic to one lane with flaggers and pilot vehicles controlling traffic.
As previously reported, Montana Department of Transportation Project Manager Paul Cogley said delays would be 15 minutes or less with a 35 miles per hour speed limit in the work zone.
The initial lane closure will extend from the East River Road junction north to Wineglass Road, according to Cogley, and the bike and pedestrian path will be closed from Cedar Bluffs Road south to East River Road.
He said motorists should allow extra time to reach their destination and watch for workers in the construction zone.
The DOT is widening Highway 89 in Livingston for three miles from East River Road to Merrill Lane, and building a center turn lane to improve traffic flow, enhance safety and upgrade local access to homes and businesses in the affected area.
Construction is expected to last through August.
