Flood Photos Near Glastonbury on June 13, 2022
It is with a heavy heart that we share the following photos taken from Route 89 near Glastonbury. The Yellowstone River rose very quickly and by 3:30 PM on June 13th had flooded many lovely homes. Many more were surrounded by shallow water from the river. We will visit these sites again on Tuesday and post updates then.
Looking south from a Route 89 turnoff about 1/2 mile south of Dry Creek road. Many homes appear surrounded and threatened by rising flood waters.
Looking across the river from a Route 89 turnoff about 1/2 mile south of Dry Creek road. This home was completely surrounded by rushing water. A 1,000 gallon propane tank was floating but still moored to the right of the home. East River Road is in the background.
Looking across the river from a Route 89 turnoff about 1/2 mile south of Dry Creek road. This home is still high and dry.
Looking north from a Route 89 turnoff about 1/2 mile south of Dry Creek road. The gravel turnoff road has caved and washed away. About 20 feet of dirt remain between the fresh embankment and paved Route 89.
Looking across the Yellowstone River from a Route 89 turnoff about 1 mile north of Emigrant center. The fishing area is closed and the parking lot is under 3 to 4 feet of water.
Looking south from a Route 89 turnoff about 1 mile north of Emigrant. The farm buildings are flooded along with the parking lot.
North of Emigrant, just past Trail Creek Road, the Yellowstone River was lapping against the edge of Route 89. Another 6 inches of rising water will put the paved road underwater. The Emigrant General Store and associated buildings were high and dry. But Murphy Lane that crosses the river was partially inundated and the bridge was closed. The RV park, north of Emigrant and along the river was also partially submerged. A few campers were left on higher ground but most had left. The main buildings were still dry.
From what we heard Route 89 was closed by the Rest Area going south. It was also closed but passable just past where East River Road joins Route 89 before Livingston. So emergency vehicles can get through and presumably postal, gas and food trucks as well. The Emigrant General Store was out of bread and milk at 3:30 PM. They still had the gas pumps open.

Hercules Road and other roads in South Glastonbury were fine. All of the flooding appears to be along the Yellowstone River.
On Tuesday afternoon we will take more photos and post a follow-up article.
