GLA Board's Fear of Landowners Drives it Into Seclusion?

Administrator's Note: Sally Muto asked us to post her latest open letter to the GLA Board on the Forum.
The Forum attended the last open GLA Board meeting and did not see any threatening behavior from landowners or Board members. If Board members really feel targeted why do they still attend open committee meetings? Why do they not report the threatening behavior to the authorities? Perhaps because fear is a ruse and has so often worked in the past to intimidate and silence those whom the ruling powers do not agree with.

Sally Muto's letter follows:


Dear Board Members,

I heard some disturbing information, and it was confirmed yesterday at the Post Office, the unofficial information center. I'm hoping this information is wrong! That all Board Meetings will from now on be "phone meetings?". Is this true or just temporary?

When I was told of the reason I was shocked! Fear!? Fear of a landowner bringing a gun to a meeting and possibly hurting someone? I don't know any person who would do such a thing. Carry a gun yes, after all we live in Montana and guns are as prevalent as cows! But hurt someone? Over what? We have spirited debate certainly, but I've never heard any personal threats made against anyone.

Miss Charlotte, I hereby volunteer to PROTECT the Board from any and all threats, if anyone truly feels in jeopardy, I have a current concealed carry permit and practice at our gun range.

After all what could frighten or intimidate a would be assailant more than an old lady packing heat? That would, I believe, stop any perceived threat, although I personally have never seen nor ever perceived a threat at any meetings. Frustration from both board and landowners yes.

Miss Charlotte, you of all people should not be fearful or cowed by anyone. Your from New Jersey! And Jersey City no less! NJ is known for the mob, corruption, bribes, payoffs, intimidation, fear and cement shoes!! Nothing here could possibly scare you!!

At our age Charlotte we've seen to much to give into fear now. Time is too short for us to spend being afraid. You must lead by example; your new moniker should be Fearless Leader!

But I have a couple of theories, and this is where your leadership ability should come to the fore.

Theory #1

Now, if it's just the women on the Board that are fearful, well all I can say is shame on you ladies! Cowgirl up. Don't get your knickers in a knot for heavens sake! It sounds like hormonal therapy maybe needed perhaps? Ladies, we've come to far, as least as far as the kitchen anyway, to give into fear! What happened to equality? Charlotte, you can be the example here of a truly strong woman. If that doesn't help may I suggest to them to either get off the board or work behind the scenes if you can't control your fear? I know...call in and listen on the phone!

Theory #2

In the newsletter it was suggested we all get our septic tanks checked (good idea). I hope there's no "conflict of interest" in this suggestion?

I don't think it is that "end" we need to be worried about but the other end. Our "wells!" I don't fear guns but I definitely fear contaminated well water. I believe some person or persons MUST be putting Kool Aid into our wells and cisterns! That's right. It may be just certain Board members wells as a form of...I don't know...but something anyway.

This is the ONLY explanation for the mass hysteria that seems to be "infecting" everyone, and causing you all to take cover. You think? I for one can't see all those men on the Board "hiding behind" you Charlotte, Charlene and Karleen without something being administered through our well water?! I just can't see them hiding from the landowners and being hysterical? One's a war vet and the others are rough and tumble guys, outdoors men to be sure. Contaminated wells for sure!!

Charlotte, make a rule that everyone, starting with the Board, have their wells checked and ship the samples to Quantico for results. I bet that is where the real problem lies. No more having to hide or skulk around when this gets fixed.

I call for a committee to investigate why our Board feels threatened by its neighbor's. I know, Dan, I called for less committees so you and others could have a life, but this situation threatens the governing of our Association! It pits neighbor against neighbor.

Contamination...this must be the source of all the crazy suggestions and decrees coming from the Board? This would explain all the issues that are coming between the Board and landowners.

All of you need to take a deep breath and nip this hysteria in the bud, but it will be harder if it is chemically induced by the dreaded Kool Aid.

Life is to short, especially for Charlotte, Mr. Johnson and me to be manipulated in anyway through fear! So, I volunteer to stand guard and defend all of you, man and woman alike, to the best of my ability, just remember I'm old and have arthritis! Just standing behind you, Madame President, should stop any perceived threat.

I might even get that "crazy hair look" for added effect. If you think I should get reinforcements I know a few old ladies I can count on for backup....never fear.

So, go ahead and meet at St John's and I'll be there, not with bells on but bandoliers!!! So, I'll see you all at the OK Corral, aka St John's Church....just kidding.
