Gravel Donation Withdrawal - GLA Fails to Provide Timely Service Dear GLA Board,
In early spring I promised to purchase two loads of gravel for distribution on Sagittarius Skyway. It is now almost July and that gravel has yet to be deposited and graded on Sagittarius Skyway. Summer is here and the time has long passed when gravel should be deposited, graded and rolled. The rains are gone and the hot, dry season is upon us. Any gravel deposited now will dry out quickly and the binder clay will blow away. Washboards will quickly return and both my money and landowner's assessments will be wasted. Therefore I am withdrawing my offer to purchase two loads of gravel. Further I urge the GLA to delay grading and gravel for all of South Glastonbury until the rains return in October.
The noxious roadside weeds in High South are tall and starting to flower. Spraying should have been done in late May or early June. Soon the flowers will seed and a new batch of weeds will be in place for next spring. In Low South and North Glastonbury the weeds have already gone to seed.
There have been many hours of Road Committee meetings since April and it appears to me that little was accomplished. The roads are deteriorating, gravel and grading is moving far too slowly and the weeds are proliferating. A reasonable landowner might consider if it is even worth their while to continue paying assessments when the services you are supposed to provide are so lacking.
Sincerely,
Tim Brockett
