Proxy Votes - The best way to maintain 100% Confidentiality when voting
Many landowners are concerned that the GLA absentee voting process will not be 100% confidential. While names and addresses are no longer directly on the ballot the parcel number is on the ballot envelope. Little is needed for someone to connect that parcel number with a landowner.
A better way to vote is to either submit your ballot in person at the annual meeting on November 12th, 2016 or vote by proxy. If you drop your ballot into the box at the annual meeting it will be 100% confidential. If you cannot attend the annual meeting then the next best way to insure that your vote remains secret from the prying eyes of any GLA Board members is to vote by proxy. Simply download a Proxy Designation form here or use the one that came in your GLA election packet. Put your name and parcel number(s) on the top line. Fill out the name of a trusted person you have chosen to vote for you, then sign and date your form. Be sure to add your phone number in case the proxy needs to be verified. Then give your proxy to a trusted person and tell them who you wish to vote for. The friend can bring your proxy designation form to the annual meeting and request blank ballot(s). Then, they can check the candidates you requested and place the ballot(s) in the ballot box. No one, except you and your trusted friend, will know who you voted for.
If you do not know your parcel number(s) or have questions please call Tim Brockett at (406)333-4688. He has a complete listing of all GLA landowner properties and can provide parcel numbers and answer questions.
Sitting GLA Directors are prohibited from accepting proxy designation forms. This helps to protect the integrity of the proxy vote system.
