Old Guard Retains Control of the GLA Board Despite a valiant campaign that saw the highest vote count in recent memory, the "New" candidates failed to win more than one seat on the 2017 GLA Board. The incumbents swept North Glastonbury. John Carp will continue as Ombudsman while Gerald Dubiel, Charlene Murphy and Newman Brozovsky all retained their seats. In South Glastonbury new comers Tim Brockett and Jeff Reiderer lost to sitting directors Dan Kehoe and Ed Dobrowski. The only new candidate to get elected to the 2017 GLA Board was Leo Keeler. By most counts the 2017 GLA Board will be heavily skewed towards CUT affiliated members; 11 to 3 which includes both Ombudsman. It is generally accepted that the community is about 40% church related folks and 60% non-church people.

Even a blind person can see how this happened. Clearly the CUT community, which has been running scared with their authority under scrutiny, wins the award for political mobilization and influence, mainly due to the fact that the majority of non-CUT landowners are complacent and don't bother to participate in the process. The members of the GLFPC and a few others have been "carrying your water" for more than two years but it is now clearly evident that without your involvement (votes) positive change remains elusive. Evidently you are content with the status quo and the current board's past performance, which is indicative of what we may expect for the future...not much.
