Many Landowner Votes will NOT be counted...but one will
GLA Board Secretary Charlene Murphy has stated that many landowner votes will not be counted in the November 26th recount. Just one landowner will be allowed to cast a ballot and that landowner has already stated that she will cast her 3 votes for church affiliated candidate George Makris who lost by one vote on November 12th, 2016.
The Forum emailed the GLA Board and explained that we knew of a proxy ballot for 3 votes that arrived at the Emigrant Post Office at 11:45 on Saturday, November 12th. We also know of several absentee ballots that arrived on Saturday and the following Monday. The GLA Board did NOT pick up votes that were sitting in their Emigrant PO Box on Saturday at 11:45. However landowners were still voting in person at 12 noon. The absentee ballots sitting in the GLA PO Box ballots will not be included in the "recount".
Adding to the confusion Treasurer Rudy Parker did not have an up to date list of landowners that were ineligible to vote. At least one landowner was denied a walk in ballot by error. Eventually Rudy Parker found their 3 week old and not cashed check in his file box. Many people paid their assessments at the meeting; approximately $4,700.00 from 22 landowners was paid. They were given walk in ballots and allowed to vote. No provision was made to disqualify their vote(s) in case their check bounces.
The supposed "recount" is not solely a recounting of the votes; one landowner is being allowed to submit a new ballot and then all of the ballots will be recounted. Thus the ballot submission process is being reopened and it seems fair to count ALL landowner votes that have come in but were not included in the original count. Charlene Murphy has flatly refused to consider either proxies or absentee ballots that were not presented in time for the original election. She claims that the GLA Board made "an error" and thus must allow one landowner to cast a new ballot for 3 votes. That should be enough to steal the election and insure that no non-church candidate gets on the new 2017 GLA Board.
As Lord Acton stated over 150 years ago "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely".
We urge all landowners to attend the Election Recount (Theft) meeting on Saturday November 26th, 10 AM at Liberty Hall. If the GLA Board successfully steals this election the Forum believes it is time for concerned landowners to protest by ceasing payment of assessments.
