Traffic snarled and more snow is on the way... According to KLXH.com more snow is on the way for South Central Montana. The National Weather Service is calling for 2-6 inches over the weekend. In High South Glastonbury the wind has blown much of the loose snow into drifts. Some road surfaces are bare gravel and dirt while in other spots snow has drifted completely across the road. Fresh snow will replenish the supply of drifting snow and allow drifts to grow taller and wider. Read more from KLXH here. The Livingston Enterprise reports "Wind-whipped: Drifting snow shuts down interstate, stretches local emergency resources, halts school buses" However schools remained open and classes were often combined so students would have a good instructional day. Winds were clocked at 83 mph at Mission Field. Whiteout conditions were common. Read the full story here. Another story from the Livingston Enterprise states "Wind overturns semi, diverts westbound Interstate traffic" An incredible picture of an overturned semi follows. The tractor trailer was empty and just entering I-90 westbound from the 330 entrance ramp. A strong gust of wind flipped it on it's side. Read the full story here.

LIVINGSTON - ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE - I-90 closure between Livingston and Columbus, both directions.

LIVINGSTON -
UPDATE: I-90 is again OPEN in both directions from Livingston to Columbus. Use extra caution in this area due to very icy conditions Saturday afternoon. Snowpacked roads with blowing and drifting are still being reported by the Montana Department of Transportation from Big Timber to the hills near Columbus.
There are reports of multiple accidents in the region. MT DOT has been on the scene of a serious accident between Hardin and Crow Agency. A semi jackknifed west of Billings near Mossmain Scales and shut down eastbound traffic. That accident has been cleared. Snow and ice are the general rule of the road until warmer temperatures help with a melt.
