High South Snow Report - January 31, 2017 7 PM We are getting buried ...
Over 14 inches of snow has fallen at 6,300 feet in High South Glastonbury since this morning. Since 2 PM the snow has been falling at the rate of 1 inch per hour. That pace has not abated. Currently the temperature is 12 degrees above zero and slowly falling. By morning we could have 2 feet of fresh snow.
The forecast is for a break in the storm on Wednesday but then it will snow some more on Thursday and Friday. Unfortunately we are in a spot where the jet stream is bringing in moisture from the Pacific ocean while cold air from the north is pushing against warm air from the south. The result is snow and the jet stream is not expected to move for at least a few days.
Dorothy Keeler in Low South, just off Dry Creek Road reports that 7.5 inches has fallen there.
