* POTENTIAL PLAINS IMPACTS: MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY LOW VISIBILITY AND ROADS BECOMING SNOWPACKED.
* SNOW: OVER A FOOT OF NEW SNOW ACCUMULATION EXPECTED IN BEARTOOTH/ABSAROKA MOUNTAINS, AND TOTALS NEAR A FOOT IN THE CRAZY MOUNTAINS BY TUESDAY. 1 TO 3 OF SNOW ACCUMULATION POSSIBLE IN LOWER ELEVATIONS MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY WITH HIGHER AMOUNTS FOOTHILLS.

...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 5 AM THURSDAY TO 5 AM MST FRIDAY...
The National Weather Service in Billings has issued a High Wind Warning...which is in effect from 5 AM Thursday to 5 AM MST Friday.
* TIMING...Period of strong and gusty winds Thursday morning through Friday morning. Strongest winds will be late Thursday night.
* IMPACTS...Hazardous crosswinds along Interstate 90 from Livingston to Springdale.
* BLOWING SNOW...Areas of blowing snow are possible early Thursday morning until temperatures warm above freezing.
* WINDS...Southwest wind gusts 65 mph to 75 mph.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Winds of these magnitudes can cause property damage without extra precautions. Motorists in high profile vehicles should use caution until the winds subside.

Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 5:00 pm:
There is a traffic jam on I-90 near the Livingston exits right now. Traffic is snarled for 3 miles and is almost at a near standstill due to high winds that are virtually at a category 1 hurricane speed.

According to the Montana Department of Transportation, all semi-truck and towing unit traffic on Interstate 90 will be diverted through Livingston starting at 9:55 a.m. today due to high winds.
At 9 a.m. this morning, winds were clocked at 31 mph, gusting to 42 mph. The winds are forecast to reach speeds of 65-80 mph this afternoon.

* Wind: Southwest wind gusts 50 to 65 mph possible.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of central Montana...south central Montana...southeast Montana and north central Wyoming.
* Winds: Periods of strong winds will impact the western foothills late this afternoon and evening, and again on Tuesday. Expect hazardous cross winds on Interstate 90 at Livingston, and Highway 191 from Big Timber to Harlowton. The Red Lodge and Sheridan areas may also experience a few stronger gusts off the mountains.
* Mountain Snow: Periods of snow, locally heavy, will fall over the Beartooth Absaroka Mountains through Tuesday night. This snowfall may increase avalanche danger in the high country.
* Significant Weather Change: Colder weather will return to the region during the latter half of the week, with below normal temperatures expected Thursday through the weekend. Some snow accumulation is also possible, but details remain highly uncertain at this time.
* Potential Wintry Impacts: Poor driving conditions. Hazardous conditions for young livestock.
