High South Snow Report November 21, 2015 10:30 AM
Currently it is sunny and cold. 20 degrees at 129 Sagittarius Skyway The winds are picking up and the 5 inches of fresh fallen snow from yesterday is drifting. On my way to and back from the Post Office I noted these conditions:
Sagittarius Skyway - not yet plowed. Drifts of 2 to 6 inches along the lower sections below my house. Above my house there is more severe drifting. 4 to 12 inches in sections to the end of the road. The road is partially blocked just after my house with 12 inch drifts.
Upper Hercules from SpecTec to Sagittarius Skyway - has not been plowed yet. Minor drifting and the road is down to 1 lane.
Hercules from SpecTec to Dry Creek - looks like one lane was plowed. Road is narrow and difficult to pass on. At the one mile mark, just past Libra Lane a large, 6-12 inch drift is forming across the road. Further down the road, around "Suicide Corner" the drifting is also severe. It crosses the road and blowing snow is decreasing visibility down to a few feet.
Dry Creek ( a county road) to 89 - VERY slippery. Blowing snow has created a layer of ice on the asphalt. The road was plowed but I did not see any sand. Most of the blowing snow and drifting is coming from sections where snow fence has yet to be installed. The existing snow fence appears to have blocked many drifts from encroaching upon the road.
All for now.
