Road and Weed Cmte Meeting Thursday Sept. 7th, 2017
At 12 Gemini Road in North Glastonbury. 7 to 9 PM
Agenda:
1) Financial Report - we need to know what we have for funds before we can allocate money for projects.
2) Culvert Progress from the last meeting - all culverts that could be located are staked and mapped. I think the culverts should be cleaned, permanently staked and connected to existing ditches before we do fall grading. Allocate funds and schedule work ASAP. Thoughts?
2a) We will need a skid steer with a post pounder attachment for installing permanent marking posts for the culverts. This would be a good time to assign the job of pounding U channel posts at various locations for improved traffic signage in both North and South Glastonbury. Allocate funds, order signs and if needed, U channel posts? Thoughts?
3) Fall Grading for North and South Glastonbury - this would be a good time to discuss mag chloride and improving ditches as the equipment needed is identical to what is required for grading and gravel. Allocate funds and schedule work right after culvert cleaning but before Oct 15th?
4) Spray Seeding - Once the outboard side of a roadside ditch is cut and smoothed it can be seeded. The inboard, or closest to the road side, will routinely get cut as the ditch fills with sediment. Weed spraying might be more effective for the inboard side of the ditch. Allocate funds, pick a sample stretch and schedule work. Thoughts?
5) Kathleen Ramp's phone comments and letter for her property on Hercules Road.
6) Golemeyer Creek erosion on upper Hercules Road.
7) Sand purchase - do we have enough for the winter?
7a) Snow Plow Rig Updates
7b) Start thinking about coordinators for the upcoming snowplowing season and the protocol for contacting the drivers, along with their correct phone numbers.
8) Snow Fencing order and T posts. Allocate funds and place an order?
