New Glastonbury Column in the Park County Community Journal
The October 15th, 2017 Park County Community Journal has taken an interest in Glastonbury. South Glastonbury resident and writer Jerry Ladewig debuted with a Glastonbury Election story that lightly covered the candidates and upcoming Annual Meeting. The article appears to have been lifted from the official GLA Annual meeting letter and voter information packet. No new information was presented and the story failed to capture even a whiff of the rumor and intrigue that so richly characterize our beloved Glastonbury.
We understand that Jerry was under strict orders to keep the article "neutral" and thus it came across as bland and boring to our eyes. No where was it mentioned that one candidate was under a restraining order for issuing death threats against the GLA Board. Nor did it comment upon another candidate whose candidacy was declared invalid by the GLA Board. Rumors are swirling that a lawsuit will follow if this candidate does not get reinstated. Currently the GLA Board is scrambling to get a lawyer to read the Covenants to them so they can effectively avoid another lawsuit.
Seriously folks, do we really want to elect people to our Board of Directors who resort to lawsuits and death threats when things do not go their way? Maybe we should legalize personal pistol duels so the warring board can eliminate candidates or sitting directors in a shoot out? That could add a lot of drama to the Annual meeting and might set a new attendance record. Body armor should be required though so bystanders do not get fatally injured.
Glastonbury is a community that words cannot adequately convey but we at the Forum have tried to do our best. We welcome competition because it will force us to do better. As regular readers know we have a long ways to go to call ourselves "professional journalists". We are amateurs that live in Glastonbury and love the daily drama and intrigue. We do not print bland news nor regurgitate slick marketing materials. We provide news and commentary which we hope gives insight into the surreal place we call home; Glastonbury.
The Forum challenges the Park County Community Journal to delve into some stories that resonant with our community.
We wish the Park County Community Journal well and hope they can lift some of the onerous restrictions placed upon Jerry and other writers. The Forum is happy that they finally have taken notice of Glastonbury; an awe inspiring community in the heart of Park County. Hopefully the Park County Community Journal editorial Board, if they even have one, can move beyond reprinting press releases and marketing materials and enter the rough and tumble world of real journalism. If not, their paper will always remain free and be a favorite for lining cat litter boxes.

- Bomb shelters are near and dear to many Glastonbury residents. They should be explored in a detailed article and plans provided so less fortunate landowners could build their own.
- When Armageddon comes Glastonbury is the place you want to be. The afore mentioned bomb shelter will provide a secure home. Long term residents are skilled in food preservation, living off the land and shielding from electro-magnetic blasts.
- On a positive note a story about the rebirth of our road network would resonate with all Montana drivers who are tired of bad roads.
- How about an article that interviews new landowners and inquires into their reasons for choosing Glastonbury as their new home? The answers may surprise you.
