SPECIAL MEETING
Once again we hear about the
Conspiracy and the Glastonbury
Shadow Government"
"The GLA held its first of a series of special meetings for landowners at Emigrant Hall on April 2, 2016. A landowner and a GLA Board member presided. Both were supporting members of the landowner group that says it wants positive change. Towards the end of the meeting they took turns reading comments that had been placed in a box by landowners who wanted to give anonymous opinions. It seemed that about 95% of the comments that were read were anti the Church – so much so that it appeared to be planned that way as a tactic to demoralize Board members and landowners belonging to the Church.
"Contentious landowners expressed that the board is biased and is abusing power because it appoints Church members to the Board and they don't think that's fair. The fact is that out of six possible appointments, three were members from their group and three were Church members.
"The claim is that the Church members have an unfair advantage, being the majority on the board. They seem to forget that these people were elected. On one hand, testy landowners say that Church members constitute the majority – but on the other hand they say that Church members are now in the minority and constitute only 40% of the landowners. It appears that this disgruntled group of landowners doesn't like loosing and they expect the community of people who founded Glastonbury to step aside and let them take over.
"If there is any hidden agenda to be found within the GLA Board of Directors, it is likely to be of a personal nature having nothing to do with the Church – who long ago gave up babysitting Glastonbury! Not one shred of evidence has ever been brought forward to show how the Church has gotten a good deal and others a bad deal! Furthermore, I have seen a lot of good deals come forth from the Church for everyone.
"As far as forgiving debt is concerned, these same landowners heard the GLA attorney say that it would be very fortunate if the GLA were to get the principal out of the long-term debt. Nevertheless, all debts settled in the past involved more than 100% of the principal being recovered. People are getting tired of this group of landowners griping and harping on the same old, worn-out, refrains.
Regarding debt collections, board members have committed no wrong. If some of these landowners want to help, then, they are most welcome – but they will need to remove their brass knuckles if they intend to be accepted by anyone other than themselves."
