Clare Parker for South Glastonbury Director
Administrator's Note: Candidate Clare Parker and her son, Ed Dobrowski, are currently suing the GLA Board along with candidate Kathleen Rakela. GLA legal costs to April 30th, 2018 for the Rakela lawsuit are $13,630.49.
Why I Want to Serve
The Board is facing challenges with the adoption of rules and policies involving interpretations of Covenants that give rise to contention. The GLA should put landowners first rather than grow the power of the association. I believe clarifying the Covenants is a top priority. Landowners need to exercise their power to decide what they want. Otherwise, the GLA tends to assume more and more control, which, besides landowners losing rights results in litigation.
I do not want our current road policy changed from a tier system to a contiguous road system. Eliminating the tier system would result in increased assessments, since the GLA would be required to maintain roads in the upper forested areas to the same quality as the primary roads; and South Glastonbury’s assessments would go towards maintaining the pavement in North Glastonbury.
Money is being spent on legal fees that should be spent on roads. Legal opinions can differ, and, if we are not vigilant, these opinions can sometimes be used to advance an agenda of control. Instead, landowners need to be on top and exercise their right to decide outside of court.
GLA project review has become overly restrictive of property rights and the process should be more helpful to landowners. I desire to see private property rights and landowner rights firmly upheld and the project Review Committee be more welcoming to landowners.
I want to see resolved the problems generated by a small, but focused, group of relatively new board members and landowners who are armed with strategies of control and determination to carry out their agendas. My primary aim is for landowners to exercise their power, and not the Board alone. And so, I am asking for your vote to replace the incumbents in South.
